AN AIRPORT baggage screener has been jailed for his part in a [pounds sterling]100,000 theft ring that stole 800 items - including laptop computers - from passengers' luggage.
Jose Magalhaes, of Wandle House, Redhill, Surrey, was able to look at luggage as passengers checked in and was the last of 11 men to be convicted of offences at Gatwick.
The 46-year-old was jailed for three years for theft, and for two and a half years for handling stolen goods after being convicted at Lewes Crown Court.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
