Plans for a second banquet hall in Antioch have been scrapped.
Residents Vince and Arlene Tomasello, who own the Double Eagle Sports Club, said they will withdraw their petition because of opposition to the idea.
"The whole thing created way too much controversy," Vince Tomasello said. "Our intent was to do something the village wanted and needed - but based upon the outcry, we are rethinking our options and may look down the line at finding another location."
The plan was to build a 450-seat banquet hall and 180-seat upscale restaurant on Route 59 and Bowles Road. Also proposed were 18 single-family townhouses.
