Properly applied, diesel-fuel additives have the potential to protect fuel quality and to make engines run cleaner and more efficiently
Do you use diesel-fuel additives? When we asked that question of equipment and truck owners during a recent telephone survey, nearly everyone answered no.
The exceptions were the few who said they occasionally use an additive to prevent fuel gelling in cold weather or to stop the growth of a dark-colored slime that plugs fuel filters. No one we talked to was using off-the-shelf formulations that claim to enhance diesel fuel's overall stability and performance characteristics. But, admittedly, our survey sample was small.
