Canada gets its very own Texas
TO HAVE a full day in Fort McMurray, it is best to fly up from Calgary early. That way you don't have to stay overnight in the place itself. And whereas Calgary is a pleasant metropolis with a brand-new downtown, a view of the Rockies and some wonderful restaurants (if you like steak), Fort McMurray is a drab little settlement in the middle of the nowhere that is Alberta's north. Another reason to catch this flight is to meet the early birds flocking to cash in on the oil sands.
