A new multi-million euro GSM contract for the expansion and modernisation of Paktel Ltd, a Pakistani operator owned by Millicom International Cellular (MIC), has been awarded to Alcatel, a communications solutions provider.
Alcatel will build a network encompassing about 1,400 sites, providing EDGE capability. The work will be completed over three phases and will cover Pakistan's four provinces, with completion expected by the third quarter of 2006.
