NEW YORK -- Neckwear designs reminiscent of the fabulous '40s and '50s are expected to give some of that old American spirit to holiday tie sales.
After several seasons of explosive growth in wild, mostly licensed conversational and '70s-inspired designs, many neckwear vendors are looking even further back in time to a distinctly American sensibility.
Nostalgic looks that are expected to ignite cash registers include:
* Paneled designs in vibrant colors that are reminiscent of the '40s;
* 50s conversational motifs that include classic cars, jukeboxes, record turntables, and old-time diners;
