Dec. 1--CENTER TWP. -- Women make up more than half of Beaver County's population and work force, yet, on average, they earn 67 cents to every dollar that their male counterparts make and they are grossly underrepresented in local government, according to a report released Wednesday.
Good news from the report: The percentage of all Beaver County businesses that are at least majority-owned by women, 28 percent, exceeds regional and state averages.
Findings from the report, called "The Status of Women in Beaver County," were discussed Wednesday night at a town-hall meeting on the Penn State-Beaver campus in Center Township. ...
