Dec. 2--CARTHAGE -- The village Planning Board will send its recommendation to outlaw outdoor wood-burning furnaces back to the village Board of Trustees.
The decision comes after trustees, in a 4-1 vote Nov. 21, rejected the ban and asked the Planning Board to study the matter further.
The Planning Board, in a 3-0 vote, stood its ground Thursday, saying that it did exhaustive research over the past three months and that it need look no further into the matter.
"We did our homework, very extensively," Planning Board Chairman Sean P. McHale said.
