FDA AND THE Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have agreed to collaborate more to speed patient access to innovative technologies.
The move was announced in January by outgoing Health and Human Services secretary Tommy Thompson as part of an overall department initiative to move medical innovations forward.
Instead of each agency automatically reviewing products in serial fashion as is currently done, they will try to work in parallel on request of a sponsor, says a department task force report.
