Union Square is one of the most congested parts of Dubai's historic Deira district. So at the end of October it was quite fitting that a team of workers in lime green overalls began fencing off the area for construction of the emirate's most ambitious transportation project. The fencing marked the beginning of a four-year journey to build the world's longest fully-automated driverless transport system, the Dubai Light Rail (DLR) transit project.
