Minnis plan wasn't pro-schools
Tonie Nathan's Nov. 30 letter about House Speaker Karen Minnis was propaganda. There was nothing about the Minnis 2005 Stable Schools Plan that was pro-schools or children.
Nathan describes the Minnis plan as providing stability for school funding. This is misleading. Minnis' plan was for self-imposed legislative budget constraint for funding kindergarten through 12th grade education. Minnis wanted a ceiling on school spending of 51 percent of the state's budget.
