The Fair Trade Commission (FTC) of South Korea has ordered software company Microsoft Corp to separate its instant messaging service from its Windows software and permit competitor products on its system in South Korea.

Microsoft said it would appeal the order, which upheld that the company had breached antitrust laws and included a fine of around USD32m, but confirmed it will not withdraw its Windows operating system from South Korea.
