Herb Bloomberg had already built the Old Log Theater in Excelsior, the Hazeltine National Golf Course clubhouse in Chaska and the Quadna Mountain lodge near Grand Rapids, Minn., by the time he caught the taste for dinner theater in the frontier town of Chanhassen in 1968. So at age 55, a time when many folks are winding down their pursuits, Bloomberg built a sprawling complex in a cornfield along Highway 5. It redefined Chanhassen from sleepy farm town to upscale suburb.
Bloomberg, regarded by many as the father of modern Chanhassen, died Sunday evening at age 92.
