During a recent vacation in Tuscany, I was struck by the passion that the Tuscan people have for food. They insist on fresh, locally produced ingredients and take time to enjoy leisurely meals. Even in small villages, the local "alimentaria" provides fresh bread and locally grown fruits and vegetables brought each day. Local sheep's milk cheeses and wines are also available. People gather in the morning for their cappuccinos and to chat with neighbours. This joy in community interaction and daily exercise walking in the Tuscan hills are additional ingredients in their recipe for healthy living.
