CHICAGO _ For the second straight season, Naperville, Ill., figure skater Evan Lysacek has been sidelined by a hip injury.
Lysacek, reigning world bronze medalist, withdrew Thursday from Sunday's U.S. Figure Skating Challenge in Boston and next weekend's Grand Prix Final in Tokyo because of bursitis and tendinitis in his right hip.
"I am optimistic that with a couple of weeks rest, I will be fine for nationals (in January)," Lysacek said via phone from his training base in Los Angeles.
