Microsoft's Xbox 360 got the jump on Sony's upcoming PlayStation 3 with its arrival this week on retailer shelves. Sony's PS3 is not expected until some time next year. The availability of the Xbox 360 in time for the holiday shopping season is expected to cut into Sony's 70% share in the video console market.
Some gaming analysts say that the upcoming Sony PS3 will be a superior product to the Xbox 360 because the PS3 will have twice the processor speed, built-in Blu-ray HD DVD technology and the ability to wirelessly connect up to seven controllers. Microsoft's Xbox 360 features high-definition video and surround-sound audio.
