Article: Boy of 11 fined [pounds sterling]50 for dropping an apple core.

Byline: DAN PARKINSON

DAVID Dyas knew it was wrong to drop litter.

So when the 11-year-old schoolboy couldn't find a bin for his apple core he kept it in his pocket.

Unfortunately, it fell out as he walked home from school.

As he bent to retrieve it, a council litter warden pounced and gave him a [pounds sterling]50 fine.

Last night, David's mother Julia Hargreaves accused the council of simply trying to make money.

'I simply could not believe it when I found out about the fine,' she said.
