Article: PAC-3 Missiles Fail To Intercept Target In Test.(Patriot Advanced Capability)

An Army intercept flight test of the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC- 3) missile system against a short-range ballistic missile target was unsuccessful Nov. 11 at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.

"Preliminary test data indicate that an intercept was not achieved," the service said in a statement.

"One of the reasons we test, whether we succeed or not, is to learn," Bob Hunt, an Army spokesman, told Defense Daily. After the test, a debris recovery team combed the desert floor for missile debris for further study, as analysts evaluate the test data to determine the root cause of the failures to see if changes need to be made.
