The services need to focus more on joint weapons and the Pentagon should work toward developing a Joint Common Missile-type munition as well as weapons to destroy chemical, biological and radiological stockpiles, according to the Department of Defense's first weapons road map.

"The road map tried to lay out where the department is today and where we think we have needs in the future," said Mike Novak, associate director joint force applications.

The first road map looked at moving targets and aerial weapons, he told reporters last week.
