NEW YORK (FNS) -- In a bizarre twist in an already tangled financial empire, Guccio Gucci SpA has filed a $63.9 million suit against its 100 percent-owned United States subsidiary, Gucci America, Inc.

The suit is for merchandise sold by the parent to the American subsidiary plus interest. The suit, filed in federal court here, claims that, since June 1991, the subsidiary has failed to pay for $58.8 million in merchandise purchased from its Italian parent. The suit seeks a judgment of $63.9 million including interest.
