My long-time friend Spencer Bohren and his family evacuated their New Orleans home about 20 hours before Hurricane Katrina's infamous visit. Spencer--a full-time musician who performs his Down the Dirt Road performance/lecture all over the world--escaped with one guitar and one lap-steel, but lost his National Duolian. Unfortunately, the Duolian is essential to his show, as he follows one song on its journey from 16th Century Africa to the Rolling Stones, and utilizes appropriate vintage instruments to connect the cultural and artistic dots.
