High-concept political media may not be dead, but it sure is on the critical list. While many of us in this business would like to think of ourselves as great artists, the fact is that good political media has a whole lot more to do with message than art.
Direct, informational, well sourced, and documented presentations of message replaced high-concept spots in 1992.
Ross Perot's informational spots, for example, received very favorable reviews from media critics and voters. Bill Clinton's ads were saturated with straightforward and focused economic messages that were always well sourced.
