Sony Ericsson buys stake in Chinese production venture from Sony
Shanghai. December 14. INTERFAX-CHINA - Handset maker Sony Ericsson received approval from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) to increase its stake in Beijing Suohong Electronics Co. Ltd. (BSE) from 10% to a controlling 74.5%, Sony Ericsson said Tuesday.
The BSE acquisition is expected to strengthen Sony Ericsson's supply chain and increase manufacturing capabilities. BSE will produce mobile phones for the international market and complement Sony Ericsson's existing in-house manufacturing, currently conducted by Beijing SE Putian Mobile Communications Co.
