So many Somali immigrants have moved to Eden Prairie in recent years that many Somalis now say they need their own community center, a gathering spot to help new arrivals adjust to American life. Signs of the Somali influx to Eden Prairie and other western suburbs are increasingly visible. Eden Prairie's first Somali-owned business, a grocery store catering to Somali palates, recently opened, and the city and schools have increased efforts to reach out to the rapidly growing community.
Most of the city's Somali immigrants came from Minneapolis in search of affordable housing, available in a few large subsidized apartment complexes ...
