Dec. 16--The parking garage under Santa Fe's new civic center will have about 88 fewer spaces so that fewer human remains will be excavated.
Santa Fe Mayor Larry Delgado and Tesuque Pueblo Gov. Mark Mitchell on Thursday announced their compromise to a special meeting of the state Cultural Properties Review Committee. The committee unanimously voted to issue an individual burial-excavation permit and to modify a land-excavation permit so archaeological work can resume, Sweeney Convention Center can be demolished early next year and the new civic center can be completed by early 2008.
