Canara Bank branch inaugurated in FM's native village
Kandanur (TN), Dec 18 (PTI) The long cherished dream of Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to have the branch of a nationalised Bank in his native village became a reality when he declared open the 2524th branch of Canara bank here today.
In a brief speech, Chidamabaram said he and the people of the village had for long yearned for a nationalised bank's branch. However, the present political situation had made him do it "hesitantly", he added.
"We are criticised if we do a good thing. If we don't do anything, there is no criticism against us; that is the political trend now." The minister ...
