BRECKENRIDGE -- Shaun White held himself back in the halfpipe, just to be safe. With an Olympic berth on the line in the Grand Prix series, he wanted to make sure he threw down a solid line and landed all his tricks in the first run of the first event.
As the top seed in the finals, White earned the privilege of going last. By the time he was ready to drop in for his second and final run, every other athlete had finished and White knew precisely what he needed to do: nothing.
Only one run counts, and White's first "safe" run was the best of the day.
