Your story 'Daughters of Africa step forward' (African Business June 2005) made interesting reading and I thought your readers might be interested in a public database, kept by the US' Central Intelligence Agency and updated weekly, that finds that 153 countries and self-governing territories have trade or commerce ministries. Patricia Hewitt's move from Britain's Department of Trade and Industry to the ministry of health last May leaves just seven women among these 153 ministers.
