A total of 1,662 Filipino pilgrims have arrived in Madinah, Saudi Arabia since Dec. 11 for the five-day hajj ritual in Makkah in the first week of January 2006.
A total of 320 pilgrims left yesterday afternoon for Saudi Arabia a" bringing the hajj flights to five a" on board a Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) jet.
Last Dec. 14, President Arroyo sent Sultan Kudarat Gov. Datu Pax Mangudadatu to Saudi Arabia to monitor the welfare of Filipino pilgrims whose number is expected to reach 3,000.
