In a letter sent October 7, 2003 to the presidents of all AARC chartered state societies, AARC Executive Director Sam Giordano RRT, announced that because of increased competition, state societies would be required to sign contracts with the AARC that would legally bind them to follow a set of covenants prohibiting state societies from engaging in any activity with any group that the AARC deems to be a competitor to itself. State societies who fail to sign the contract would not receive revenue sharing from the AARC, as has been the practice for decades.
