On some level, all job hunters understand it's not what you know, it's who you know. Career counselors, however, are universally frustrated in their efforts to convince clients to conscientiously build and maintain a viable network of contacts. Even when driven by the harsh realities of a dreadful job market, many job hunters fail to tap into whatever network they do have. Instead, they send out another first-full of resumes and double the time spent online.
