It may very well be that many deaths attributed to heart disease may actually have their roots in sleep/breathing disorders. Recent findings continue to show that many heart rhythm abnormalities and heart failures may actually be caused by sleep/breathing disorders. One primary sleep disorder being listed as contributory is Sleep Apnea (SA). By definition Sleep Apnea is the cessation of breathing for 10 seconds or more during sleep. Often oxygen levels in the blood decrease during the apnea episode.
