First, soap opera lovers will love this gossipy book. It's kind of like "Napa", only it's about the Modesto, not St. Helena Valley.

As one might imagine, there are some real doozy mistakes. Such as, Carignane was not developed from Carnelian, there was no BATF in 1936 (it was the Alcohol Tax Unit), the Wine Advisory Board did not form Wine Institute, and Cribari was not owned by the Bisceglias (misspelled "Bascigalia"). True, these are minor deficiencies that could have been caught by a good, informed editor. But, there's more.

Too often, the author quotes unnamed "former employees". You don't think these might be disgruntled former employees, do you? Hmmm.
