Dec. 21--Jacque Jones may not be the marquee name Cubs fans were hoping for this winter, but the 30-year-old free agent will get an extended opportunity to resuscitate his career on the North Side.
Jones agreed to a three-year, $16 million deal Tuesday, ending the Cubs' search for a left-handed-hitting right fielder and completing their lineup.
After failing to pull off a trade to fill the void in right, Cubs general manager Jim Hendry had to outbid Kansas City for Jones, who is coming off a down season but has speed and the ability to hit 20 or more home runs.
