When George Clooney test-screened his movie, "Good Night, and Good Luck," in June the reaction wasn't exactly heartening. Less than half of the audience knew about the communist witch-hunts of the 1950s that serve as a backdrop to the plot. Worse, "literally no one knew" the movie's hero, broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, says the tri-state native Clooney, who directed and co-wrote the film.
Not a good omen that "Good Night" will find a large audience when it opens to the public (this Friday in New York and Los Angeles; probably on Oct. 21 in Cincinnati).
