St. Henry volleyball player Jessica Isaac plays back-row defense with such intensity that she was named most valuable player in last week's 9th Region Tournament.
The 5-foot-7 senior said she was surprised to receive the award because it traditionally goes to the outstanding hitter or setter on the regional championship team.
But St. Henry coach Maureen Kaiser had a good reason to buck that trend and select Isaac for the top honor.
"I think it would just be impossible to be as successful as we've been without her on the floor," Kaiser said.
