BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Ayad Allawi, who earned a reputation of toughness in dealing with insurgents as Iraq's interim prime minister but whose term was marred by allegations of corruption, appears to want his old job back.
The secular Shiite and his allies were swept from power in the January parliamentary elections. Allawi's alliance was third, winning just 40 seats in the 275-member parliament.
Now Allawi, who spent years of exile in London, is assembling a broad coalition to contest the Dec. 15 elections to get back in power.
