Most reproductive health programmes for adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa concentrate on school-based programmes, peer education and youth centres. A successful programme in Kenya has used a different approach that took into account community needs and local culture. Researchers assessed staff attitudes toward the provision of sexual and reproductive health information and services to young people, and conducted in-depth interviews and focus group discussions among young people, their parents and community leaders.
