When it comes to dominant categories in the meat case, few can hold a candle to ground beef. Consider that 9-billion pounds of various rinds are sold annually in the United States, and that approximately 97 percent of American households consume ground beef while buying this product at least twice a week on average. Ground beef also accounts for approximately 25 percent of all retail meat sales and 50 percent of all beef sales.
