"The Nutcracker" is the most popular of ballets.
The Christmas fantasy, with music by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, about the little girl who journeys to the Land of Toys and Sweets with her Nutcracker Prince, is financial salvation for companies like the Cincinnati Ballet.
The company opens its 27th production Friday at Music Hall.
Last year's "Frisch's Nutcracker" drew an audience of 24,119 over 12 performances. It grossed a whopping $676,497.
