Article: Beach blanket fast go: 2nd annual Pismo beach race!

Everyone has fun, nobody gets hurt, racers make some bucks and lots of money goes to charity. In a perfect world, that's the way racing should be, and that's pretty much the way it went down at the second-annual Oceano (Pismo) Dunes beach race on California's Central Coast.

Unlike other sand races in the States, Pismo is a fast, nine-mile grand prix-type course with big bowls, sky shots, dropoffs and long wide-open straigths. It's more like a beach race you'd find in Europe. In fact, the Pismo promoters got the idea for the race after checking out the famous Le Touquet beach race in France.
