TUESDAY lunchtime last week, and amid the elegant surroundings of one of London's most fashionable restaurants, Woody Allen is eating alone at the discreet table that has been kept on permanent standby for him since he moved to London.
Other diners politely avert their eyes, pretending not to notice the pale, wiry man in his trademark black-rimmed glasses.
Less than an hour after entering the restaurant, Allen is off, leaving, as is his wont, without troubling himself with such trifles as paying the bill.
