Few inmates in the chow line bother to look up when the buzzer on the metal door announces someone is coming into their pod from the outside.
They already know it isn't Santa Claus.
What stands out about Christmas Day in the Lake County jail is that nothing stands out about it - it is just another day in the lives of both prisoners and staff.
"What can I tell you, man, it is sad to be in here on Christmas," said Marco Ramirez of California. "You try to shrug it off; think about your family and hope they are happier than you are, just like you do every day."
