Weyerhaeuser Co., North America's largest lumber producer, said it will shut its Okanagan Falls sawmill in British Columbia and boost investment in its mill in Princeton, B.C.
Okanagan Falls will close Dec. 17, Federal Way-based Weyerhaeuser said Monday in a news release. The mill employs 224 people who will be entitled to severance packages and can apply for jobs elsewhere in the company, said Frank Mendizabal, a spokesman for Weyerhaeuser.
Associated Grocers investors OK company sale
Shareholders of Seattle's Associated Grocers Inc. on Friday approved selling the company to Los Angeles-based Unified Western Grocers, a sale initiated in May.
