Alan Goldsmith remembers falling asleep in his childhood home near The Boscobel Dial to the sound of the presses running at the newspaper his father, Ralph Goldsmith, turned from a small weekly into a noted regional publication.
The former editor and publisher of The Boscobel Dial and longtime community leader, Ralph Goldsmith died unexpectedly Friday. He was 91.
In his more than 70 years as a newspaperman, Goldsmith went from working with hot metal type to computers, but always preferred his old manual typewriter, his son said.
