This year will be remembered by many as "the year of the hurricanes." Out of 23 tropical storms--exhausting the list of names chosen by the National Hurricane Center for the 2005 season--13 became full-blown hurricanes. Of those names, the most likely to come to mind years from now will be Katrina. On August 29, the category 4 hurricane slammed into the Gulf Coast, bringing 145 mph sustained winds and a 28 foot storm surge that devastated parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
