The development of light rail schemes in Britain is not for the faint-hearted as it continues to be a long-winded tortuous process. Promoters and bidders alike need patience in abundance. Despite this, enthusiasm for light rail in British cities appears undimmed.
Birmingham, Croydon, Manchester, and Sheffield are all planning extensions to their existing systems. Newcastle is drawing up plans to build light rail lines to extend the reach of its light metro network.
