Gordy Sussman, the Madison paddle sport icon who was convicted last summer on sex assault and child pornography charges, will spend at least 5 1/2 years in prison, a Dane County judge decided Wednesday.
"I think this is a case about a violation of trust," Circuit Judge James Martin told Sussman, "and exploiting a child under the guise of helping a child."
Sussman, 53, who founded the Rutabaga paddle sports shop in 1974 and owned it until 2002, was convicted last summer by a jury on two counts of repeated sexual assault of a child and 16 counts of possessing child pornography. The assaults, ...
