GAS chiefs warned last night that yet more 'ugly' price rises are on the way.
They will mean millions of families facing energy bills of more than [pounds sterling]1,000 a year.
Prices have already soared by around a third in two years - leaving many people worried about the cost of turning on the heating this winter.
Age Concern has warned of a rise in cold-related deaths, with an estimated 8.9million elderly people struggling to pay their bills. Even in an average winter, cold plays a part in up to 30,000 deaths among the elderly, with many facing a choice between heating and eating.
