Dec. 30--MONROVIA -- People love celebrating the New Year with noisemakers, champagne and good friends.
But they don't necessarily like planning ahead.
That's why stores such as Party City expect big crowds, right up through New Year's Eve.
Most people, as well as retailers, are focused on Christmas and Hanukkah this time of year and don't prepare for New Year's Eve until the last minute, said Tom Matousek, district manager for Party City.
"It's part of that hustle and bustle of the holidays," he said. "A lot of retailers don't get (New Year's merchandise) out before the last minute.
